U3A North East Region together with Network Victoria Education Committee hosted an information day on July 31st which offered members an insight into the various ways of using digital technology to enhance the presentation of courses offered across the varied syllabi of our U3A region.

This was not a workshop, rather a demonstration by practicing Course Leaders of how they have decided to take advantage of digital technology to better deliver the services for which they have volunteered.

Current course leaders, committee members and interested members from most U3A's in the north east region came along to learn about advantage of such technologies in their approach to learning.

Our guest speaker for the event was Glenn James, Group IT Manager, McPherson Media Group whose topic was “Where do I see IT in 5 Years?”   Glenn provided many insights into the future of IT and its role in our everyday lives.

There was also a thought provoking presentation by Tegan Kop from the GoDigi project, a project of the InfoXchange and Australia Post which aims to increase digital inclusion of older people and other groups.

We hope that those who attend left feeling energised by the concepts presented and returned to their U3A's brimming with new ideas to pass on to their members.

Are you digital ready?
